Easter is Sunday, March 28, 2027. It falls the week after Duval County Public Schools’ spring break, and schools are closed on Good Friday, March 26. The city’s own egg hunt is the largest in Jacksonville; its 2027 date had not been announced when we checked in October, so the 2026 details are below for reference.

Egg hunts

JaxParks Riverfront Palooza, Riverfront Plaza, 2 W. Independent Drive. The city billed its 2026 hunt, on Saturday, April 4, 2026, the day before Easter, as “Jacksonville’s BIGGEST Easter Egg Hunt”: more than 15,000 eggs across five age-group hunts, each run twice, with golden eggs worth a prize basket and photos with the Easter Bunny. It was free. The 2027 date is not out yet.

Easter services

The Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, 121 E. Duval St., is the Catholic basilica in downtown Jacksonville. While the basilica is being renovated, weekend Masses are celebrated at the same time in Leon Hall and the Providence Center next to the rectory. Its regular schedule:

  • Saturday: 12:10 p.m. (fulfills the Sunday obligation)
  • Sunday: 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. (Spanish)
  • Monday to Saturday: 7:30 a.m. and 12:10 p.m.

Confessions are heard before every Mass. Holy Week and Easter follow a special schedule, which the parish had not posted for 2027 when we checked.

Easter brunch

We list Easter brunches only when the restaurant announces one on its own site, and none in Jacksonville had posted a 2027 Easter menu when we checked. For restaurants that serve brunch every weekend, see brunch in Jacksonville.

What is open and closed

  • Good Friday, March 26: Duval County Public Schools are closed. Good Friday was not on the Tax Collector’s 2026 holiday list; its 2027 list was not out yet.
  • Trash and recycling: collected as normal all week; the city moves pickup only for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
  • Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens: open daily except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, according to its visit page.

  • Check the JaxParks events page in February and March for the 2027 egg hunt date; in 2026 it was the Saturday before Easter.
  • Schools are out Friday, March 26, a week after spring break; plan child care for that day.
