Jacksonville’s ice cream and dessert shops sit in the walkable older neighborhoods, San Marco on Hendricks Avenue, Avondale on St. Johns Avenue and Riverside on Riverside Avenue, and in the shopping centers of Mandarin on San Jose Boulevard and the Southside around the Town Center, Kernan Square and Philips Highway.

How we made this list. We started with OpenStreetMap records inside Jacksonville’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, and added locations from the shops’ own location pages. Every place was checked against its own website on Oct. 10, 2026. Shops in Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and St. Johns County are left out, because they are outside the city. Many dessert shops in the city have sites that do not show an address or hours, or no site at all; they are left out until we can confirm them. The list is alphabetical. Amaretti Desserts on Old St. Augustine Road calls itself Jacksonville’s own made-from-scratch bakery, using natural ingredients and no preservatives, its site says. It takes catering and wedding orders.

Jeremiah’s Italian Ice in Mandarin, on San Jose Boulevard about a mile north of Interstate 295, serves Italian ice and seasonal flavors. Its other Jacksonville-area shops are in St. Johns County and Jacksonville Beach, outside the city.

Mayday Ice Cream has four shops inside the city: Riverside Avenue downtown, Hendricks Avenue in San Marco, Big Island Drive near the St. Johns Town Center and Skymarks Drive on the Northside. Every one lists the same hours. Its other shops are outside the city, from the beaches to St. Augustine and Gainesville.

Whit’s Frozen Custard serves vanilla and chocolate custard every day plus a flavor of the week, in scoops, shakes, sundaes and floats, its site says. Its four shops in the city are in Avondale, at Kernan Square on Beach Boulevard, in Mandarin and on Philips Highway, and all list the same hours.
